Introduction of Our Co-Operative Hospital Society
Late PoojyaShrimanMaharaj Niranjan Jagadguru GurusiddhaRajayogindra Mahaswameeji of Moorusavirmath of Hubballi with the aim to provide the Medical Aid to poorest of the poor people, decided to establish the Hospital at Ghataprabha as the Atmosphere/Enviornment, water and the place was suitable for opening the Hospital.
ShriJagadguruGurusiddeshwar Co-operative Hospital Society was established in the year 1951 by his holiness Late ShriJagadguruGurusiddeshwarRajayogendraMahaswameeji of Moorusavir math Hubbali with the humatarian objective to serve the people of rural areas with health, medical education & social services. He initiated the specific task of constituting an institution by donating 65 Acres of landed property with sufficient financial assistance to start the work.
Hence this organisation took the name of its initiator as “ShriJagadguruGurusiddeshwar Co-operative Hospital society Ltd., Ghataprabha.
This constructive effort was further strengthened by the most able and noble personality Late ShriB.A.Patil, the first “Registrar of Co-operative societies of Karnataka state, His initial assurance and guidance added greate cause to set pillers in order to gave definite shape as an institution on co-operative basis.
We feel proud of the fact that, ours is the first and the biggest co-operative society with hospital in the country. Thought it is a co-operative institution it does not have any share capital for individuals. Only the Govt. of Karnataka can take the shares of this institution.
The main objective / moto of this institution is “NO PROFIT NO LOSS”

The main objects of this co-operative institute is to provide lowest cost of medical services to society by establishing Allapathy, Ayurveda, Uanani, and Naturopathy and Yoga centres at Ghataprabha and medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, DOT&AT, Naturopathy & Yoga education to rural children. Also to take the social activities to uplift standards of the society.
This is the self sustaining organisation with all allied medical facilities like diagnostic unit, pharmacy etc, required to run the Hospital. The Allopathic Hospital is now with 250 beds, daily approximately 200 to 250 OPD & 120 to 150 IPD patients are getting treatment.
The service rendered by this society is most affordable to the rural people. Free services & relaxations given to the poor patients bills.
For day today expenses & developments this society is offering donations from co-operative socities, Government Grants & donations from any individual philanthropists.
The following institutions are serving to the man kind under this co-operative society. The details are :
- 250 bedded all speciality modern Allopathy Hospital.
- General Nursing Course school = Established in 1988 with ANM programme & GNM course is started from 1997 with 50 Intake capacity. Recognised by Karnataka Nursing council (KNC), Govt. of Karnataka, & Indian Nursing council, New Delhi.
- 3) Nursing college with UG and Pm1G courses = Basic Nursing course B.sc (Nursing) started during 2002 with intake capacity of 40 seats presently intake capacity increased to 60 seats from 2024-25 & post Graduate Nursing course M.sc(Nursing) opened during 2009 in 3 subjects.
1) Pediatric 2) surgery 3) OBG. - SahakarMaharshiShriB.A.Patil Ayurvedic Medical College with UG Course = UG Course (BAMS) in Ayurveda is opened during 1996-97. Now the intake capacity of UG is 100 seats with 100 bedded Ayurvedic Hospital.
The Ayurvedic College is recognised by Govt. of Karnataka, Dept. of Ayush, Bangalore, NCISM, New Delhi & Affiliated to RGUHS, Bangalore. - Smt. P.B. Bhoopalapur Naturopathy and Yogic Science Centre :
-Established at the International standard during October – 2003. The centre has 50 beds, 08 Nos. Special rooms, & 05 Nos of Cottages, Which also includes the main building, Diet centre & Generator rooms etc. - Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences College : (BNYS College) :
- Established during 2017-18 with intake capacity of 40 seats. The College is recognised by Govt. of Karnataka & Affiliated to RGUHS, Bangalore. - College of Pharmacy : (Diploma Course) :
- Established during 2016-17 with intake capacity of 60 seats. The College is affiliated to Karnataka Pharmacy Council, Bangalore, pharmacy council of India, New Delhi & approved by Govt. of Karnataka. - Para Medical Course College : - (DOT & AT course)
- DOT & AT course started from 2016-17 with intake capacity of 20 seats. The college is recognised by para medical board, Bangalore & Govt. of Karnataka. - AYUSHMAN BHARAT AROGYA KARNATAKA SCHEME :
This is the scheme of both karnatakastate Govt. & Central Govt. started in our society from July-2014. - P.P.TC & ICTC service Department :
- Since from 2006 this service is available in our society’s Hospital to prevent spreading of HIV & AIDS from parents to children. For prevention of HIV & AIDS counselling / treatment through medicines to the general public is available from 2008. - Working womensHostel : Is under function with 96 inmates. We are also running “Day Care Centre” for the small children
- OTHER SERVICES BY OUR SOCIETY ARE :
i) 30% beds are reserved for free treatment to poor patients.
ii) Free treatement given to poorest patients.
iii) 1st& 2nd Delivery surgery and immunisation services to pregnant womens& immunisation to children are free.
iv) All family welfare services including sterilisation operations to male & Female are free.
v) All types of investigations are done in this society’s well-equipped Laboratory.
vi) All types of surgeries are conduced at affordable rates.
vii) USG, C-Arm, Gastroscopy, Digital X-ray, Gastroscopic&Laproscopic services are also available.
viii) General wards & Special rooms are available for patients.
ix) We are conducting free Blood Donation camps, free eye check-up camps, special health check-up camps. We are giving free medicines to the patients in camps.
x) We are adapting rural villages with population of 5000 & more.
xi) Health awareness camps, HIV/AIDS awareness & control camps conducted in surrounding villages.
xii) The Institution imparts medical & Nursing education to students in our camps at Ghataprabha & out side Ghataprabha also.
